Ms. Sierra

What year did you start at CFK?

I started at CFK in April of 2016.

What year did you begin your early childhood profession?

I began my work in the childcare profession in January 2014. I worked as an assistant teacher in an infant classroom at a center in Colorado for a little over a year. Then I moved back to Wisconsin (where I was born and raised) and worked for a while as an assistant teacher in a one year old classroom. Now I am so thrilled to be a floater at CFK!

Tell about your family.

I am so blessed by the family that I have! And they all live in the Madison area! I have a mom and dad that are two of the most caring people I’ve ever met. I also have two brothers and a sister, who have a few kids of their own!

Who was/is the most influential person in your life? Why?

There is a couple that I met while living in Colorado, and they are the most influential people in my life. The husband was the director of a worship school I attended in Colorado. In a time spent learning so much about the Lord, and growing in my identity, these people helped me remain steadfast and constantly pointed me to Jesus. They taught me about rest, community, and creativity, which I now consider to be a few of the pillars standing on the foundation the Lord has given me!

Do you have any pets?

I don’t have any pets! I am allergic to so many animals, but I am determined to fight through it and have a dog one day!

What is your hobby?

I love music and theatre! I really enjoy finding ways to take what the Lord has taught or shown me and pouring it out to others through the arts! I love songwriting, and working with others to create a beautiful sound!
Share a spiritual experience in your life.
In spring of 2013 I attended a worship school through a missions organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM). In this school, we were expected to write four songs throughout the three months. I had never done much songwriting before and was terrified! One day, before the first song was due, I was filled with fear and anxiety! I felt so incapable, and didn’t feel like I had anything inside me worth sharing! That night there was a worship night and I started crying and opening my heart to the Lord’s love and help! Within the next 24 hours, I had three people share prophetic words from the Lord about the Lord’s love for me, the power of my voice, and the importance of sharing what the Lord has shown me and given me! Through that day, my heart was flooded with peace and encouragement, and I’ve been songwriting ever since! Not because I’m good at it, or because it is super cool, but because the Lord has poured things into my heart that I believe He wants to share with others!

What is your favorite scripture?

Psalm 90:14
Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
