Ms. Sarah

(Kitchen Assistant)

What year did you start at CFK?

I am new to CFK this fall 2016. I am looking forward to teaching here.

What year did you begin your early childhood profession?

I officially began my early childhood profession in 1994. However, I got a lot of practice growing up. My mom took in high risk infants through foster care. Over the course of my elementary years we had 30 babies come through our home. I enjoyed helping my mom in every way. When I was older I began baby-sitting. I have always had a heart for young children so it just made sense to go into daycare.
Over the years, I have worked in 7 different centers. I have taught as high as the 2’s and 3’s, but I always come back to infants and toddlers.

Tell about your family.

I have three teenaged sons, Nathaniel, Noah & Alec. Alec is the only one left at home. He will be attending ALCS this fall.

Who was/is the most influential person in your life? Why?

I have had many different women in my life that have been influential. Women who have been an example of a godly wife, mother, or friend, each one has been a blessing in a different area of my life.

Do you have any pets?

We have a Chinses Dwarf hamster named, Marty.

What is your hobby?

I enjoy watching forensic shows, reading, and playing board games with my boys.

Share a spiritual experience in your life.

A few years back, my boys and I faced homelessness. I had an unexpected surgery and was out of work for 6 weeks. I could not make ends meet and my landlord gave me a notice. We had 30 days to find a home.
I prayed with my children and we started packing and trusting God. About a week before our time was up it looked as though we would spend the winter time in our van. Then a friend of my friend offered us an old trailer he had just bought. The first time I saw it I cried all the way home. The previous man had left everything and walked out. Dirty dished were stacked everywhere, moldy food, cigarettes, and alcohol bottles lined the counters. I had never seen such filth. And I had an entire house to pack and go through it. The man who bought it said I could live there for free but he didn’t have the time to clean it, because it was a holiday.
So my friend, her husband and a couple from their church, spent their entire Thanksgiving Day cleaning the trailer from top to bottom for me. The couple from the church had never met me. It was the most rewarding Thanksgiving I’ve ever experienced; seeing God provide shelter and people who demonstrated his love.

What is your favorite scripture?

Romans 12:12
“Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer.”
