Ms. Beth

(Singalongs Teacher)

What year did you start at CFK?

I started working at CFK on March 14, 2016 as an Assistant Teacher.

What year did you begin your early childhood profession?

I started nannying in the summer of 2010 and continued that job for the next several summers. I also had some prior experience working in the nursery at church events and volunteering with a summer school program before that.

Tell about your family.

My dad is the senior pastor at City Church. One of my sisters teaches at ALCS and the other used to, so our family is very invovled in City Church ministries. I have three older siblings, one of whom is married and another who was recently engaged. I am the youngest and couldn’t be more proud and grateful to belong to a family that is so fun, loving, instructive, and supportive.

Who was/is the most influential person in your life? Why?

That would probably be my sister Christina, who is the closest to me in age and had a huge influence on my values, schedule, opinions, and preferences growing up and continues to instruct me in many areas today.

Do you have any pets?

No, but I love cats. I had one for several years growing up and would like to again one day.

What is your hobby?

I love to read and write, mostly fantasy fiction. I am currently working on a novel that I hope to publish one day.

Share a spiritual experience in your life.

When I was little, adults in the church would sometimes give me prophetic words that God delighted in me. This seemed to me unlikely, since I knew I wasn’t really that good at paying attention during worship and I figured it was really just the adults themselves who found me delightful, especially since I had a habit of waving flags during worship that everyone thought was adorable. But then my family went to Kansas City one year for a worship conference, and a complete stranger came up to me during worship and said they had a word for me: God delighted in me. And then I realized that the message was probably really from God.

What is your favorite scripture?

Isaiah 43:1b-3a “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”
